Founded in 1980, the Ang Mo Kio Constituency Merchants Association (AMKCMA) supports local enterprises, drives neighborhood initiatives, and enhances the social vibrancy of the Ang Mo Kio Town Centre.

Founding and Evolution

• Establishment: Formed in 1980 to unify local shopkeepers and business owners as Ang Mo Kio rapidly developed into a major HDB satellite town. 

• Milestones: Celebrated its 44th anniversary in 2024 with then-Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong as the Guest of Honour, marking over four decades of community service. 

• Operations: Registered officially under the Registry of Societies (ROS). Committee members are elected by the association’s members. The association operates from its premises at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8.

Community and Rejuvenation Initiatives

• Town Vibrancy: Spearheads community engagement projects, festive celebrations, and local promotions to keep the town center active and attractive for shoppers. 

• Art and Murals: Commissioned striking public wall art and cultural murals across Ang Mo Kio to revitalize the mature estate and celebrate local heritage.

• Business Upgrading: Encourages merchant upskilling, provides career and commercial ideas, and fosters self-learning programs for local proprietors.

• Space Sharing: Opens its association facilities for community pop-ups, workshops, and intimate neighborhood events.
